I Am Fine ("we", "our", or "the App") is a daily safety check-in application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our iOS application and related services.
Information We Collect
Account Information
- Email address (for account creation and authentication)
- Name (optional, used for personalized greetings and in alert emails)
Check-In Data
- Check-in timestamps (when you tap the check-in button)
- Your preferred check-in time and timezone
- Response window settings (how long before an alert is sent)
Emergency Contact Information
- Email addresses of people you designate as emergency contacts
- Names of emergency contacts (optional)
Location Data (Optional)
- If you grant permission, we may collect your location when you check in
- Location is only used to include in alert emails to help contacts find you
- You can use the app without sharing location
Device Information
- Push notification tokens (to send check-in reminders)
- Device name (to identify devices in multi-device setups)
Sign in with Apple
If you choose to sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple ID email address (or a private relay email if you choose to hide your email) and optionally your name. Apple's privacy practices apply to data handled by Apple during authentication. We only receive the information you authorize Apple to share.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to provide the I Am Fine service:
- Authentication: To create and secure your account
- Check-in reminders: To send push notifications at your scheduled time
- Alert notifications: To email your emergency contacts if you miss a check-in
- Location sharing: To include your last known location in alert emails (only if you've enabled this feature)
Information Sharing
We share your information only in these limited circumstances:
- With your emergency contacts: When you miss a check-in, we send an alert email containing your name, the fact that you missed your check-in, and optionally your last known location
- Service providers: We use Supabase for database and authentication, and Resend for email delivery. These providers process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements
We never sell your personal information. We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third parties for marketing purposes.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard practices:
- All data is encrypted in transit using TLS/SSL
- Data is stored on secure servers provided by Supabase
- We use row-level security to ensure users can only access their own data
- Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
Your Rights and Choices
You have control over your data:
- Access: You can view all your data within the app
- Correction: You can update your profile and settings at any time
- Deletion: You can delete your account from within the app, which permanently removes all your data
- Location: You can enable or disable location sharing at any time through iOS Settings
- Notifications: You can manage notification preferences through iOS Settings
Data Retention
We retain your data as follows:
- Active accounts: Data is retained while your account is active
- Check-in history: We keep your check-in records to provide the service
- Deleted accounts: When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days
International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed and stored on servers located outside your country of residence. Our service providers (Supabase and Resend) maintain servers in various locations to ensure reliable service. By using I Am Fine, you consent to the transfer of your information to these locations. We ensure that any international transfers comply with applicable data protection laws.
Legal Basis for Processing (EEA/UK Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, our legal basis for collecting and using your personal information depends on the data concerned:
- Contract: Processing necessary to provide the I Am Fine service you requested
- Consent: Where you have given consent for specific processing (e.g., location data, marketing communications)
- Legitimate interests: Processing necessary for our legitimate interests (e.g., improving our service, preventing fraud) where not overridden by your rights
Children's Privacy
I Am Fine is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "Last updated" date above.
